About this fund
The Norm Anderson Named Fund is a named funds managed by the Inner North Community Foundation. Previously known as the Brunswick and Coburg Young People’s Trust, this was established in 1986 to provide funds for projects that benefit disadvantaged young people in Merri-bek. It was set up when a local community group, the Brunswick and Coburg Boys and Girls Club, wound up and sold its building in Cameron St Brunswick for $140,000.
The Club was formed in 1944, and raised 10,000 pounds to purchase land and build a clubhouse for local young people. Due to dwindling resources and motivation, Trust members resolved to wind up the Trust and transfer the assets to a like-minded organisation in 2016.
The Inner North Community Foundation is proud to continue the legacy of the long-term secretary of the Club, Norm Anderson, by assisting disadvantaged young people in Merri-bek who are in need with the objective to:
- Promote and provide for the general social and material wellbeing of the young people of Merri-bek
- Provide funds to groups of young people for such purposes
- Increase public awareness as to the needs and aspirations of young people in Merri-bek
- Encourage young people to fully participate in their communities.
